FOR 9-12 SCHOOLS, STEM,
AND CTE CLASSES
UAS SCHOLARS Curriculum is an interdisciplinary program sequenced into (4) courses to provide students an overall perspective of drone history, drone operations, computer science principles, and drone certification. It is also designed to prepare students for the industry with work-based learning, leadership and organizational skills, soft skills, and hands-on, real-world, and service-learning opportunities.
Our Courses
Each course is aligned with small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) Certification, NextGen, and International Standards of Technology Education (ISTE) Standards to prepare them to become college and career ready.
UAS100: PREP I – THEORY “UAS CERTIFICATION PREP”, this course is an introduction that will provide the developmental history of drones, regulations, career outlook, ethical considerations, and a basic understanding of UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) operations.
This course will also introduce hands-on drone design projects, flight operations, and flight simulation.
UAS200: PREP II – APPLICATION “UAS ENGINEERING”
This course is designed to help students understand the concept of drone-software alignment to solve real-world problems. Students will continue to develop their operations skillsets as they determine which UAS is appropriate for different scenarios or projects. The course projects require students to apply Crew Resource Management (CRM) concepts in a collaborative UAS team environment.
Our Courses
COURSE THREE, UAS300: PREP III – UASMAINTENANCE AND MANAGEMENT This course is designed to show students how to apply computer science and mathematical concepts to solve real-world problems. Students will apply Pythagorean Theorem and programming languages such as Python or C++. This course contains (3) projects that include topics found in UAS 100 and UAS 200. Students should be able to master the operational skill sets after a series of rigorous team scenarios.
COURSE FOUR, UAS400: PREP IV – ADVANCED UAS OPERATIONS/INTERN
This is the CAPSTONE course designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in the drone industry by providing skills in small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) mission management using UAS platforms. Students will develop and conduct drone operations similar to those commonly performed in the industry by drone pilots. By the end of the course, students are successfully prepared to take the FAA Part 107 Certification Exam with Remote Pilot rating.
