Drones in Education: Inspiring the Next Generation of Innovators in Higher Learning

Drone Education for Colleges and Universities is transforming how students learn technology, engineering, and real-world problem solving. Our programs give institutions the tools to deliver certified drone training that prepares graduates for growing career opportunities.

At AINautics, we believe drone technology opens new doors for student learning. Our programs help schools integrate drones into STEM and career education, equipping students with hands-on technical skills that apply to multiple industries. By introducing drones in the classroom, we make science, engineering, and problem-solving both exciting and relevant.

Tailored Drone Education for Colleges & Universities

Whether you need a single-day intensive or a semester-long course, our higher education drone programs can be customized to meet your college or university’s needs. We offer:

  • For-credit or non-credit drone technology courses designed for undergraduate and graduate programs.
  • Specialized modules in aerial photography, GIS mapping, and data analysis for engineering, environmental science, and media departments.
  • Research collaboration opportunities integrating drones into faculty-led projects.
  • Summer or intersession workshops to attract prospective students and build departmental visibility.
  • Guest lectures and hands-on labs led by industry-certified drone professionals to enhance curriculum with real-world applications.

These flexible delivery models make it easy to align drone education with your academic calendar, program objectives, and budget—while preparing students for in-demand careers in the growing UAS industry.

Certification & Career Readiness

Our courses prepare students for the FAA Part 107 certification exam, opening career pathways in industries like agriculture, real estate, construction, public safety, inspection, filmmaking, and environmental research. This credential demonstrates technical knowledge, safety awareness, and professional competence—qualities that set students apart in the job market.

 Building Career-Ready Skills with
College Drone Programs

Students gain experience in drone flight mechanics, mission planning, data collection, and aerial imaging. They learn to analyze drone-captured data and understand how it’s used in real-world problem-solving, from crop monitoring to emergency response mapping.

Course Objective:

We believe it is essential to educate scholars through an interdisciplinary curriculum containing real-world principles fused with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).

COURSE SEQUENCE
COURSE ONE, UAS100: PREP I

This course is an introduction that will provide the developmental history of drones, regulations, career outlook, ethical considerations, and a basic understanding of UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) operations.

COURSE TWO, UAS200: PREP II

This course is a course that helps students understand the concept of drone-software alignment to solve real-world problems. Students will continue to develop their operations skills as they determine which UAS is appropriate for different scenarios or projects. The course projects require students to apply Crew Resource Management (CRM) concepts in a collaborative UAS team environment. This course will also introduce to the logbook, hands-on UASdesign  projects, flight operations, and flight simulation. By the end of the course, students will successfully prepared to take the FAA Part 107 Certification Exam with a Remote Pilot rating.

COURSE THREE, UAS300: PREP III

Course three demonstrates how to apply engineering principles, computer science, and mathematical concepts to solve real-world problems using autonomous technology. Students will apply Pythagorean Theorem and programming languages such as Blocking Coding,  Python, or C++. This course contains up to (3) projects that include topics found in the courses Prep I and II. Students should be able to master the operational skills sets after a series of rigorous team scenarios.

COURSE FOUR, UAS400

Course four, the CAPSTONE course, prepares students for entry-level positions into the UASindustry by providing skills in small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) mission management using UAS platforms. Students will develop and conduct UASoperations similar to those commonly performed within the commercial UASindustry. The goal for Prep IV is to ensure students gain a minimum of 60 hours of (OJT) on the job training equivalent to academic course work credit.

COURSE LENGTH:
  • 18 hours per offering
  • 90-minute block
